Foreign nationals applying for an Indian visa need a square photo: 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm) with a plain white or light background. This page opens the photo maker with those rules loaded, so the frame, the head-size bands and the eye-line band all match the Indian visa instructions.
You get a print-ready photo and a JPEG for the online form, and the photo is processed only in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to this site or anyone else's.
How to make an Indian visa photo
- Country and Document are already set to India and Visa (regular).
- Drop a recent front-facing photo with your full face and shoulders visible.
- Line up the head between the top-of-head and chin bands, with your eyes inside the eye band; Auto-fit does it in one click when your face is found.
- Keep Background on "As required" for a plain light background.
- Select "Make photo" and use the JPEG for the online application. It is kept between 10 and 300 KB.

Check before you submit
Visa rules are set by the Indian government's visa portal and can change, so compare your photo with the official instructions on the day you apply. The e-Visa has its own digital rules and is listed separately in the Document menu. For an OCI card, use the OCI photo page instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is an Indian visa photo the same as a US visa photo?
The size and head rules are very similar: both are 2 × 2 inch squares. The upload limits differ, so choose the right country and document so the online copy fits.
Why does my photo come out smaller than 300 KB?
That is fine: 300 KB is the upper limit. A 2 × 2 inch photo at print resolution usually needs far less, and the tool never goes below the 10 KB minimum.
Can I print it at home?
Yes. The sheet PDF prints at exactly 2 × 2 inches if you choose "Actual size" in the print dialog. Photo paper gives the cleanest result.
